BREAKING NEWS: Governor Yahaya Bello Stoned.

Some aggrieved residents on Friday stoned Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, as he emerged from a mosque where he observed Jumat prayer in Lokoja, the state capital, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.
It is not immediately clear why the residents carried out the attack against Mr. Bello, but witnesses said the incident occurred at the Lokoja Central Mosque in the old market area of the capital.

A source who confirmed the development to this newspaper said the disgruntled persons also carried few placards while chanting anti-government slogans. The source also said Mr. Bello was pelted with rotten fruits and vegetables.
The police dispersed the crowd with teargas soon afterwards, the source said.

Richard Branson escapes death after a cycling accident: "I really thought I was going to die"

In a post on the Virgin website, entitled 'My life flashed before my eyes', he said he was cycling down a hill when he hit a speed bump and was hurled over the handlebars.

"A couple of nights ago I went cycling on Virgin Gorda with Holly and Sam as part of my training for the Virgin Strive Challenge. I was heading down a hill towards Leverick Bay when it suddenly got really dark and I managed to hit a ‘sleeping policeman’ hump in the road head on. The next thing I knew, I was being hurled over the handlebars and my life was literally flashing before my eyes

"I really thought I was going to die. I went flying head-first towards the concrete road, but fortunately my shoulder and cheek took the brunt of the impact, and I was wearing a helmet that saved my life (however, perhaps they should build bike helmets that protect the side of the face too - does anyone know of one?). My bike went flying off the cliff and disappeared. We’ve since recovered the crumpled bicycle, completely destroyed. My cheek has been badly damaged and my knee, chin, shoulder and body severely cut

"As I landed, once I realised I was alive, I began testing my movement. I really couldn't believe I was alive, let alone not paralysed. Coincidentally, the first person to arrive on the scene was my assistant Helen, who had just returned from holiday. She was wondering who was lying prostrate on the road. I was so glad to be alive that I quickly was able to summon my sense of humour, and said to her: “I’m alive! At least you’ve still got a job!

"George, one of the team, sprinted from the bottom of the hill and the team soon got me back home and patched up. I travelled to Miami for x-rays and scans, but have been extremely fortunate that apart from a cracked cheek and some torn ligaments I hopefully will be able to complete the Virgin Strive Challenge next month. My biggest hardship is having to drink tea out of a straw. Oh, and being called elephant man by a six year old!

"My attitude has always been, if you fall flat on your face, at least you’re moving forward. All you have to do is get back up and try again. At least I’m practicing what I preach – though a little too literally!

the date of the accident just happened to be the fifth anniversary of the fire on Necker Island. What a way to mark it! Thankfully, good fortune has smiled on me so far. It has been quite a year, I’ve been in the wars knocking my teeth out playing tennis not once but twice, and also being kissed by a ray and running into a bullet proof door.

"Over the years I’ve had many brushes with death, not least in my ballooning adventures. In the documentary Don’t Look Down, which we’re releasing soon, my co-pilot Per Lindstrand quotes Napoleon: “I know he's a good general, but is he lucky?” He says I have certainly been lucky – I wouldn’t disagree!

"Today my son Sam mentioned another fitting quote, from Hunter S. Thompson: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Before Applying Or Coming To The UK For Studies: Beware Of This!

I have observed that a lot of Nigerians are ignorant of some basic facts about the UK before choosing to study here. I have met so many people whose desire is to stay back in the country for a few years before returning to Nigeria. However, they get disappointed when on arrival they discover that there are no immigration programs designed to keep them in the country beyond their studies. Hence I thought I should educate us a little just so that you ahead of time. I have been in the UK for 7 years so I am speaking from experience.

The UK is a lovely country, people here are respectful, you will get on with little or no problems at all. However, IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY to study abroad and IF YOUR INTENTIONS are to stay back to work for a few years before returning to your country. THEN THE UK is a wrong choice. During the Labour government students were allowed to stay back for two years after graduation but the Conservative Party (currently in Gov) is heavily ANTI IMMIGRATION. Therefore YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE UK AS SOON AS YOU GRADUATE except you get married or get certain types of jobs (Trust me, YOU WONT GET THOSE JOBS within ONE YEAR), you will be kicked out of the country. ONLY students whose primary intentions are to study and go back to their jobs, husband, rich parents, wife or other commitments should come to the UK for studies. THE UK IS VERY SENSITIVE TO IMMIGRATION RIGHT NOW. they don't want IMMIGRANTS in the country anymore.

For those who want to stay back and work for some years after graduation, you SHOULD go to CANADA, USA, SELECTED EU COUNTRIES, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND and others. These countries have immigration programs to allow you stay back in their countries before returning to NIGERIA, if you want to.

Please note that I am not discouraging people from coming to the UK, as far as I am concern, the UK is a friendly country with good human right. You will love it here but just beware that they are no longer VERY WELCOMING TO IMMIGRANTS. I think they are tired of people coming to their country, it is a good place to study if all you are after is the certificate. However, from my recent experience with Nigerian students (always trying to stay back to no avail) I just thought you should know that there are other countries out there that support or have immigration programs to support ex students who wants to stay back in their country.

17 years Old Girl Contemplates Suicide in Abuja Hotel, After Getting Infected With HIV By Sugar Daddy.

A 17 year old girl, Miss Tessy tried to take her life after finding out that her sugar daddy who took her to an unnamed hotel in Abuja had infected her with the much dreaded HIV disease. Staff of the said hotel who were perplexed when Miss Tessy suddenly ran out of her hotel room heading to the pool side, got the shock of their life when she dived into the deepest part of the pool and started drowning. If not for the timely intervention of the swimming pool attendant, who also dived into the pool and rescued the girl, the story would have been different.

After she was rescued, she started shouting "Please leave me to die, I want to die" However, a staff of the hotel saw a phone in her jean trouser's pocket, he took out the Sim card from the phone (which was obviously soaked with water) and inserted the Sim in his own phone. He called the first number on the Sim "Aunty Gloria" when the lady "Aunty Gloria" picked up the phone, she was informed about Tessy's attempted suicide and was asked to come and take her home as her condition was  now stable (after the first aid administered).

Furthermore, Tessy was interrogated on the reason for her action, she started crying and speaking at the top of her voice, that the man who brought her to the hotel had infected her with HIV. She told the hotel staff and guests that were with her, that the man after having sex with her told her that he wanted to go out and buy some fruits from a fruit market not too far from the hotel. However, two hours later after the man left, he sent her a text message telling her that he has infected her with HIV, he told her that he was infected with HIV last year by a girl and that he will never go down alone.

On further interrogation, the girl said that she is only 17 years old and that she just met the man (Philip) two weeks ago and decided to follow him to the hotel on his invitation. Some people advised her to go to the hospital and test for HIV before jumping into conclusion. Others scolded her for trying to take her life over a matter she is not even sure of, they told her that even if the test is positive, that does not give her the right to want to take her life because there are so many people living with the disease and doing very well in life.
